No Other Name, Part 7: Messiah Prophet

0
Published on october 11th, 2020 | by Steve Perkins

Names are powerful and important.  God allowed Adam to name all the creatures that He Himself had made (Genesis 2:19-20).  There is no other name except that of Jesus by which we can be saved (Acts 4:11-12).  In fact, at the name of Jesus, every knee will bow (Philippians 2:9-11).

In this series of posts, we will look at the names of Classic Christian Rock bands and what those names have to say about God.

Messiah Prophet-Heavy Metal Thunder

In 1986 Messiah Prophet released Master of The Metal, an album whose cover alone would have made it stand out in a sea of albums and cassettes at the local record store.  With tracks like "Heavy Metal Thunder," the band declared their presence in the world of metal and helped set the stage for many bands to come.

Jesus was a prophet.  This alone would not have set Him apart in the ancient world, for their were many prophets.  The Old Testament is filled with the writings of prophets like Isaiah and Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Zechariah.  A prophet is simply someone who speaks the words of God, and Jesus did that.  What separated Him from all others is that He was also the long awaited messiah, or chosen one.  He is the only prophet ever to speak for God Who was also God Himself, and although, like so many other prophets, He, too, was executed, He is the only one to return from the dead.

Jesus is our Messiah Prophet.  He is Lord, King, and Savior.  He is our Redeemer.  And wearing each and every one of those titles, He walks beside you as the One Who loves you more than anyone ever could.
